Lord, the earth shouts Your Name~
In perfect chorus,
in ageless tune,
in sublime harmony!
Trees
raising baritone voices
and bold bass notes~
Fields of flowers
declaring You~
in sweet, soprano song.
Waters, streams, rivers
weaving tireless tenor lines~
Mountains trumpet
to exalt You
with eternal glorious cadence~
And waves
crash cymbals of joy
over it all.
Creation looks to You
changeless Conductor and Concertmaster~
Oh, may my voice
ever be a part of this constant,
ceaseless
Celebration!

Sleep
See the moon!
How it sparkles
on the water so fair!
Rest, my little one,
drift off without a care.
The beams
how they glitter
and shine so bright.
Close your eyes
I'll be here
to watch through the night.
Sweet dreams, tiny one
is what I pray for you.
Snuggle down, cuddle up,
till the morn
is fresh and new.
And the moon, all the while
will smile and play,
ever steady
always waiting
for the sun to warm the day.
Baby love, don't you fret
for the Lord He holds you tight.
Close your eyes
and do not fear,
for the Lamb of God is light!
The sun and the moon
they dance at His command,
so sleep on , dear heart,
He cradles you in His hand.

Stars
I sat at the fire last night
and looked up at the sky
in its night clothes,
and I,
with soft wonder,
never cease to marvel
at the magnificent display
of God's splendor.
I never grow tired
of setting my eyes upon
the Lord's handiwork,
everywhere in evidence,
diverse
a reflection of
the facets of Him.
The stars here
wink and glimmer
as a hundred fold gems
cast about
on the finest black velvet.
So many!
Uncountable!
I sigh,
I rest,
and I know
that I too am
His handiwork,
And though
I measure small
against the vast reaches
of endless sky.....
Use me
I know He can.
Want me
I know He does.
Love me
Oh yes!
More than
each star jewel
And I
here
feel small
no more.

Do I?
I found this poem in my binder this week. I want to post it mainly for posterity, but also because this is my prayer for my life. I hope you like it!
Do I use my own wings,
or do You carry me?
Do I run,
or do You pull me along?
Do I sing my own tune,
or do You give me the words?
I don't want to be
down looking up
but up looking down.
I want to be in the lead
looking ahead!
So carry me
while I use my own wings.
Let me run
while You pull me along.
Let my heart sing the song
as You give me the words.
Let me be up on the heights
looking down.
And the last shall be first,
and the first shall be last,
Let me fly
and run
and serve.

spring poetry
Here's a poem I found in a binder I'd not been using. The binder is some years old, and I think the poem is at least more than two years old. I've reclaimed the binder, and reclaimed the poem too!
Petals dance
from the cherry trees
like so many
tiny white butterflies,
fluttering to the ground
in a cascade of
snow colored wings.
Lacy cotton clouds
glide leisurely across
a robin's egg sky.....
and wind chimes laugh
their music
over a teasing wind.
The baritone hum
of the lawnmower,
the merry chatter of birds
calling to each other......
my eyes and ears feast
on the glorious
song and dance
of spring.
