Checking In

How's everyone out there tonight??

I've been contemplating posting Jack's birth story on my blog, but since I've never posted a birth story before, I wondered if anyone would want to read it besides me??

So, I'm going to think about posting the birth story! My whole pregnancy with Jack was a miracle, and so is his safe and timely arrival.  The fact that God answered our (and your) prayers to a T was nothing short of supernatural!

Today Jack is two weeks old.  None of us can believe it's already been two weeks!  He is the most cuddly baby I've ever had.....I mean, Pennie was cuddly, but Jack eclipses her in the Snuggles Department!

Jack loves his mama the best.  No, really he does! I'm really not speaking from a biased point of view here! He can be crying his eyes right out and then he gets into Mama's arms, he calms right down.  I'll admit, we crave each other.

I've taken to calling him Little Man.  To look at him, you'd never guess he was so big at birth.  He's pretty skinny and small, and Big Guy is what we used to call Russell, and it just doesn't seem right for Jack.  So, I call him Little Man.

He is the best nurser I've had....ahem.....he REALLY KNOWS what he's doing! Suffice it to say, I'm sore, but it's going away as I get used to nursing again.  He is the hardest sucker I've ever, ever had.  But he sure knows what he's doing and I'm so proud of him.

I don't know if you can tell from the one picture we posted, but he has dark hair.  He has a fine dusting of beautiful soft hair and it looks like it's the color of Mama's.  I know newborn's hair usually falls out, but for now we're enjoying his hair.

He loves to have his head stroked and rubbed.  I love doing it because he is just so soft!

***I guess it sounds like I'm totally in love!!!***

So far he has spent his little life in onesies, because everything we have for him is way too big! We're running out of onesies for him, and so I plan on going to a few local resale shops as soon as I feel up to it and getting him some things to wear.  The bigger stuff we have looks like it won't fit him until at least Spring.

If you were wondering how I'm doing, I feel a little bit like I got slammed by a semi truck AND run over by it too.  Hey, it's tough having a baby when you're 40!! I have a head ache that won't quit and I'm still weak and shaky, due to probably some low iron issues.  I had my back adjusted today by my beloved chiropractor and it felt so good.  I'm thinking about getting a massage.....and I've lost about 40 lbs in the last two weeks, no lie! So now none of my clothes fit me and a lot of my clothes seem to have disappeared, so I'm in line for a few more things too.....

***I'd better get to the bathroom....one of the girls is holding him while he sleeps and I'm not sure how long that will last! You veteran mamas out there know what I mean....sneak in the showers and the visits to the bathroom when you can!!
